Non-magnetic drill pipes are mainly used in coal mine horizontal directional drilling systems. Compared with beryllium bronze non-magnetic drill pipes, the advantages of special alloy non-magnetic drill pipes are:
(1) Non-magnetic: It has non-magnetic properties, with a magnetic permeability of 1.00005-1.0001 H/m under 20 oersteds conditions, and will not be magnetized in strong magnetic fields.
(2) Low density: The density is 4.5103 kg/m3, which is 98% lower than that of beryllium copper.
(3) Low modulus of elasticity: The modulus of elasticity of beryllium copper is 1.35105 MPa, while the modulus of elasticity of this alloy is 1.17105 MPa, which is 1.15 times that of beryllium copper.
(4) High strength-to-quality ratio: The yield strength of this alloy is 840MPa, and its strength-to-quality ratio is 1.8 times that of beryllium copper.
(5) Good plastic properties: The elongation at break is 2 to 5 times that of beryllium copper, reaching the level of 120 steel grades.
(6) Corrosion resistance: It has corrosion resistance and adaptability to downhole environments, and can work in highly corrosive environments with hydrogen sulfide and acid, with better corrosion resistance than beryllium copper.
(7) Corrosion fatigue resistance: This alloy does not experience corrosion fatigue, and its fatigue performance is the same in drilling fluid environments as in air. Its corrosion fatigue resistance is better than beryllium copper.
